"REVEALING REVELATION" Bestseller by Amir Tsarfati

Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse:

1. Conquers the whole earth.

2. Takes peace from the earth

3. Causes world wide inflation, famine and plagues.

4. Death.

(sound familiar?)

If you want to know WHAT is happening in the world and WHY, then Amir's book is for you. It makes the final book in the Bible (the book of Revelation) simple for ordinary people to understand. (And I'm all about that!)

At the bottom is my LINK to the book, for sale at Christian Book Distributors. This is "hot off the presses" and a BESTSELLER, not merely among Bible readers but with Non-Christian people too (particularly due to Pre-Sales).

So if you think this world has gone nuts, you want to be "in the know" and find some peace and encouragement among all the noise and chaos, then head here.

If you click through with my LINK you will actually get a "wee bit" of a discount.

(I'm laughing because I became a CBD Affiliate more than a decade ago to "earn a little extra income" and guess how much money I've made from it in all these years. Not one dime. Yet, God has ALWAYS supplied my needs. Do I hear an Amen from anybody else?)

Truth, with Love,

Always, Laura-Lee

FREE Wholesome Weekend Date Movie - March 17, 2022

Welcome again and HAPPY PURIM, everybody!

פורים שמח. ה' יברך את ישראל לעד

Since it is Purim today I thought I would recommend a movie about the life and events surrounding  ESTHER and how this beautiful, young Jewish girl became the Queen of the Persian Empire.

It has inspired many movies throughout the history of cinema, including silent movie versions. Most Christians have viewed the recent movie, "One Night with the King". However, THAT film is a pappy, badly acted, Biblically inaccurate version and quite frankly nowhere "up to snuff" for the REQUIREMENTS needed to make it into this feature.

However, (again) I have discovered a much better version that can "cut it" here and be high enough for my standards. (Esther isn't the only one with a reputation to uphold, eh?)

It is simply called,  "Esther" and stars Academy Award winning Best Actor,   F. Murray Abraham (who won for his role in  "Amadeus" ). It is superbly acted by the main characters AND the supporting cast and remains true to the thrilling, original story in the Bible. (Why is it so often the secular movie makers these days who make the best Bible movies? Perhaps they still recognize a good story while the Christians are forever trying to figure out what the public wants and "fix" the Bible story to appeal to the masses. But I digress.)

Here's a reminder of what it takes to make it into this feature.

  • Good Story
  • Appeals to BOTH Men & Women
  • Funny
  • Witty
  • Good acting
  • Plot Twist
  • Evokes "warm fuzzies"
  • Motivates snuggling
  • No Graphic Sex, Violence, or Swearing
  • Leaves you with good feelings/thoughts
  • "Jazzed" and anxious to share it
  • Available on the Internet right now for FREE (so you can watch it Immediately.)

My cookie recommendation to go along with this film is, of course, the popular hamantaschen*, which is traditionally associated with this holiday. For further info see the LINK below.

Great Poetry That Endures Through the Years

Poems of Inspiration and HopePoems of Inspiration and Hope by Annie Johnson Flint
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was introduced to Flint in the early 1990s by a talk featuring former missionary who survived a World War 2 Japanese Camp, Darlene Diebler Rose. I immediately fell in love with both the humble, sweet, profound, funny Darlene and Annie, who share all those same character traits. This is a classic book of inspirational poems and I LOVE it. I continue to attempt to plumb the depths of it all these years later and am STILL finding new ways her simple, encouraging, light-filled poems speak to me.
As you know I RARELY give a book a 5-star rating because that means "perfect", but this book is as close to perfect as you will get.
Here's a little hint: Read her poems OUT LOUD. They have a great cadence and they sink even deeper and stick with you better if you do it that way.

Sincerely, Laura-Lee

Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) Through the Years

My dad used to always say, "You'll never get anywhere unless you hold the 'Boss Cards'" referring to the high hand in a poker game. That was one of his ultimate goals in life and any situation; to be the one holding the "Boss Cards".

I saw for the first time and in a movie theatre  "Jesus Christ Superstar"  at seven years old in 1973 (Oops! 🙊 Outed my age on the Internet again!) and I LOVED it. For years it was my main Biblical knowledge of the life of Jesus (who was apparently a really cool teacher and rock singer). I continued to watch it through the years changing my opinion of it as I changed and grew. But a lot of it is taken right from the Bible and some of it is just a greatly crafted film. I still remain impressed with the scene of the Pharisees meeting to discuss the problem of "what then to do with this Jesus of Nazareth? How do we deal with a carpenter king?" 🎶 (Then We Are Decided)

And the BEST performer in the entire film is Pilate and any scene with him (portrayed by Barry Dennen). The film was up for Best Film at the Academy Awards that year for good reasons. Of course it lost to, ... (wait for it) "The Exorcist"! (And thus we have continued the downward spiral.) This was reflected again when "Beauty and the Beast" lost to ... (wait for it) "Silence of the Lambs", which completely swept every major category at the Oscars that year. (I think we can figure out Hollywood's agenda even without a specific "agenda statement"). 🤨 🤮👿☠

When I watch "Jesus Christ Superstar" now I see how incredibly tame this R-rated film was in 1973. (It NOW holds a G-rating.) The scenes of Herod's court actually got out loud gasps from the packed movie theatre and the scene of Jesus being whipped is the main reason it received its R-rating. Fast forward to Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" film and its whipping scene and the comparison is almost ridiculous. (BTW. The real life whipping of Jesus was much worse than Mel's.)

"his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness." (Isaiah 52:14)

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice

But now I see the massive amount of errors in "Jesus Christ Superstar" and things that are actually contrary to the Bible. I was watching a video of an interview with Tim Rice who wrote all the lyrics and who said he was writing the story "from Judas' Point of View". I was thinking "SO not the POV of Jesus the world needs!"

Jesus (the real one) said that during our particular time in history there would be mass deceptions by people acting like Christians or talking like they know about the Bible but who are really wolves in sheep's clothing hiding among the flock.

People often ask me, "Why do you 'yak on' about Jesus so much?"

Let me state boldly and with clarity that my entire agenda is to make known to you the God of the Bible who is accurately and completely represented in His only Son, Jesus. The difference between me and others is that I DON'T HIDE MY AGENDA and they do.

If someone won't come out and tell you point blank WHAT they believe, what their MOTIVATION is and WHO they think Jesus really is, head for the hills.

Coming back to Dad's "Boss Cards". One line from "Jesus Christ Superstar" has always stuck out to me and even showed up in my prayers. It's from the song in the garden of Gethsemane  (where Jesus gets SUPERSTAR whiny), "God, thy will is hard, but You hold every card!" 🎶

I find this hugely comforting, although there was a time when I viewed it angrily as a "rigged deck". But it is true. He doesn't hold just the BOSS cards, He holds EVERY card. In view of that, how can we possibly lose in any situation when God is on our side?

"What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. (Romans 8:31-34)

Truth, with Love,

Always, Laura-Lee

LINK Trial Before Pilate (Jesus Christ SuperStar 1973)

FROM THE BOOK:

"Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. 2 The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe 3 and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face.

4 Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.” 5 When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”

6 As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”

But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”

7 The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.”

8 When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid, 9 and he went back inside the palace. “Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer. 10 “Do you refuse to speak to me?” Pilate said. “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?”

11 Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”

12 From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jewish leaders kept shouting, “If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar.”

13 When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). 14 It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon.

“Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.

15 But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”

“Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked.

“We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.

16 Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified."

FREE Wholesome Weekend Date Movie - December 10, 2021

This is the feature that just can't be stopped. People often ask me, "When are you going to start recommending movies on the weekend again?" but I'm not considering it a great priority right now with Jesus soon to return and the Rapture of the Church imminent. Watching an entire movie is something I rarely do anymore because my days and nights are so full of other activities.

That being said, I stumbled onto this really great movie as a YouTube recommendation and it was "just what the Doctor ordered" and I immediately thought to mention it here.

Time Changer is the 2002 film about a professor at a Christian College in 1890 who writes a book he is hoping the faculty members of the College will all endorse. However, there is a rule in place that any endorsements must be unanimous among the faculty. There is one dissenter.

The thesis of his book is that the Ten Commandments need to be used as the basis for a civilized and moral society. ALL Christians would believe that, right? But the issue the other Professor has is that the book doesn't blatantly state that apart from the authority of Jesus this is a futile belief.

Nit-picker! I mean stealing is WRONG no matter who says it. Right?

Ultimately the Professor steps into a TIME MACHINE and gets hurled into OUR time period to have a look around for a few days, check out how we live and the fruits of his book and beliefs. This movie is rife with social commentary on the Church and TONS of "fish out of water" comedy.

I think that is what I miss a lot in Christian movies these days. Joy and humor. They are often depicting End Times events or people going through very difficult times and rarely do people even crack a smile.

I've gone on long enough. It's time for you to take some time to enjoy yourself.

Here's a reminder of what it takes to make it into this feature.

FREE Wholesome Weekend Date Movie - November 11/20

I did not see this film coming, which makes it all the nicer for the surprise. It was a "Youtube recommendation" and listed as a "film-noir" classic. Death and murder. Not exactly what I was looking for to take a break from the way our lives are right now. But the 1949 film,   IMPACT , made quite a one on me.

Briefly, it's the story of a rich couple who are happily married and ...

Ha, ha! That's ALL I'm going to tell you specifically about the plot. However, I will tell you that at its heart it is a sweet, poignant, mystery-thriller. It is filled with plot twists and cool forensics stuff long before CSI came along and made them cool. It also has the Biblical themes of justice, sacrifice, turning the other cheek and good, old-fashioned it's important to tell the truth even when you don't want to. It also shows people going to church and praying! 😯

But let me remind you that even though this is a "wholesome" movie, it contains adult themes and is not meant for younger children. Now let me continue to remind you of my other requirements which are listed below and send you off with a "hope this helps you enjoy yourself for a couple of hours."

I've also decided to add a new element to this feature which has now been running for almost six years.

"Laura-Lee's Cookie of Choice". The appropriate cookie to enhance your viewing pleasure. And since this is a classic film, dark on the outside but filled with sweetness on the inside I MUST recommend (drumroll) Oreos. And I will even go so far as to recommend Oreo Double Stuf as a reflection of this particular film.

I hope you're not sitting next to a chronic talker because even the small details count in this story and you don't want to miss them with a lot of chit-chat. OR making out. So BEHAVE yourselves, but have a good time. Now off you go, dearies.

Sincerely, Laura-Lee

(FREE) Wholesome Weekend Date Movie - OCTOBER 3, 2020!

Just when you think it's safe to come out of the ...

Wait! Let me start again.

Just when I thought I was through with "Immediately Free Wholesome Weekend Date Movie" it rears up again. Either I discover a perfect movie OR somebody mentions it to me, as in,

"When are you going to start doing that Wholesome Date movie thing again?"

Yesterday, it was some of both. I came across the following film when it was recommended to me by YouTube and it's Cookies. How could I say "No" to it?

I had never heard of "Woman's World" which is strange considering what a huge Van Heflin fan I am. And when I discovered it also had Fred McMurray, June Allyson and Lauren Bacall in it too, I figured it would be "wholesome" and also have some GREAT clothing from the 1950s in it too.

However, what I didn't expect was a well acted, clever character study of three marriages in various stages. Clifton Webb portrays the head of a huge car company with headquarters in New York who brings three medium level employees (and their wives) to the Big Apple for the weekend in order to evaluate and choose one to take over for the CEO who recently died. It is a high pressure but lucrative position that they must compete for and we learn all sorts of things along the way about people and what makes us all tick. And there is a good amount of romance, nice clothes and some cool, old cars too.  As well as a few plot twists and a happy-ish, though unexpected ending.

And so I finished it and thought, "Wholesome Weekend Date Movie" will see yet another reprise.

Let me remind you of what a movie requires to make the grade for the WWDM.

Narrator Builds Kingdom He Reads About (Review)

Pendragon (The Pendragon Cycle, #4)Pendragon by Stephen R. Lawhead
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I still plan on writing a review that encompasses the entire Pendragon series but I wanted to say this now.

I've read this series several times but this is the first time listening to it in audiobook format. In this case, read by Frederick Davidson (aka. David Case). I have said that there is a fine line between narrating a book and performing it. The one enhances, the other upstages. I am now going to amend those words if not eat them all together. But I should be forgiven because I hadn't yet heard a book read by Frederick Davidson.

Davidson goes all the way! Voices, intensity, singing (even though somewhat tone-deaf). Whatever it takes, Fred does it. And he does it oh so well. In fact, I gave the extra fifth-star rating (which to me means perfection) to any of Lawhead's books Davidson has read - at least for the ones Stephen Lawhead hadn't already received from me on his own.

In looking for more books narrated by Frederick Davidson I discovered that he died in 2005, which has brought me great sadness even though I'd never even heard of him a few weeks ago. But after listening to his voice speak the words of my beloved author for close to a hundred hours I feel close to him. I knew he got "IT" and so it bonded us. But before I had but a moment to lament his passing I discovered he had recorded more than 700 books. What a legacy to leave behind!

Thank you, David, for doing more than your job required and for pouring out your talents into an ever-increasing dark world. I pray the Great Light has welcomed you wholeheartedly into His Kingdom of Summer, which you spoke of with such desire and reverence as to make it sacred and to help those of us dedicated to ushering it in and giving it life.

THE KINGDOM OF SUMMER (Fantasy)
"I have seen a land shining with goodness, where each man protects his brother's dignity as readily as his own, where war and want have ceased and all races live under the same law of love and honour.

I have seen a land bright with truth, where a man's word is his pledge and falsehood is banished, where children sleep safe in their mother's arms and never know fear or pain.

I have seen a land where kings extend their hands in justice rather than reach for the sword; where mercy, kindness, and compassion flow like deep water over the land, and men revere virtue, revere truth, revere beauty, above comfort, pleasure or selfish gain. A land where peace reigns on every hill, and love like a fire from every hearth; where the True God is worshipped and his ways acclaimed by all.”

- Quote from "Arthur" by Stephen R. Lawhead

REALITY

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.  I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.  And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

"Dear Jesus. The End is Really Here!"

When COVID-19 hit, I knew for sure we were in the Last Days spoken of in the book of Daniel (Old Testament) and in the book of Revelation (New Testament) and by Jesus himself in Matthew 24 and Luke 21. I thought to myself that THE Peace Treaty would show up "at some point". Probably sooner than later. I first discovered this event would come when I read about it in 1980. Forty years ago!

I held my tongue through Y2K. I held my tongue at 9/11. I held my tongue when the Mayan calendar predicted 2012 would signify the End of the world. I held my tongue as I watched the scientists move the Doomsday Clock through the years as it went from twenty minutes to midnight to two minutes to midnight. I've held my tongue as Christian after Christian got "weird" and decided to try and figure out and calculate the exact day of Christ's return, even though Jesus said NOBODY knows the exact moment except the Father. I said nothing because they didn't EXACTLY fit what the Bible said would happen. And if it was the "real deal" it would be precise and exact because God knows ALL and His prophecies are specific and would be PRECISELY fulfilled.

Then when COVID-19 hit and I knew for sure we were in the very last days of the world, I still held my tongue. To be honest, I was a little freaked out to see it actually happen before my eyes and was unsure what to say.

Now I've just discovered that while I was napping yesterday President Trump witnessed the Peace Treaty that is spoken of in the Bible and after four decades I am holding my tongue no longer.

The Abraham Accords Peace Treaty, spoken of thousands of years ago in the Bible, brings stability, prosperity and safety to Israel. It is the precursor of the soon to be invasion of Israel by Russia, Iran, Turkey and their allies recorded in great detail in Ezekiel chapters 37-39.  When you add that to the anarchy and "lawlessness" started by the Black Lives Matters movement, and many other specific world-affecting events there is no doubt we are here at last in the few final years of human history before Jesus returns.

All I want to do is weep. I feel so overwhelmed by it. How do we just go on living a regular life knowing this and seeing it all happen before our very eyes? But before I go into even more details I will hold my tongue just a little more. I need to be alone with Jesus right now. But I will say this, because it may be the last post I have the chance to write, if my caution, suspicious nature and silence for all these years has earned me any credibility at all than listen to what I simply tell you. Grab the nearest Bible and drop to your knees and call on the name of Jesus because the End IS finally here and you and I will live to see it.

That Doomsday clock is now chiming midnight and it is "tolling for thee."

This was the Scripture Jesus led me to directly and miraculously on Monday. He told me to "hold fast to it during this coming week." Now I know why.

8 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim:

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,

13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

(Romans 10:8-13)

I humbly thank you for all the time you've spent through the years coming here and reading my hundreds of posts. I pray that you will find Jesus in each and all of them. Because of infinitely more important than me being here is that "Jesus Was Here" as we wrote the story of my life ... Together.

"To Christ be the glory great things He has done".

Love always, Laura-Lee

A Hindered Journey to God's Wisdom

A Touch of His WisdomA Touch of His Wisdom by Charles F. Stanley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I love Charles Stanley's teaching which is evident by the fact I've been listening to him preach for more than twenty years. But I had trouble getting into this book and it has somehow missed the mark for me.

It's a devotional structured around the thirty-one chapters in the book of Proverbs in the Bible. Each section in this Large Print, paperback edition also includes a photograph taken by Dr. Stanley somewhere on his journeys. But the photographs are in black and white (though they were taken in color) and I didn't enjoy this endeavor as much as Dr. Stanley's other books.

I think the intention with this devotional is to make us pause to ponder, but I found it just broke my train of thought when it should have been helping me to focus it. It's as if I was riding a bus that was constantly stopping and starting and I eventually just wanted to say, "Let's just get there already!"
I have read many other devotionals that I do like, so it's not that format per se that is bothering me. And I found this one to be scripturally accurate and full of insight as I have Charles' other books. But this was edited/constructed by others and I was hindered from hearing Dr. Stanley's voice in my head, which is what usually occurs when his teaching flows unimpeded.

It's not the best effort from Charles Stanley and since he has so many other books to choose from, I suggest you do exactly that.

Thanks for reading this.

Sincerely, Laura-Lee

Let Canada Entertain You on Her Birthday

Since it's Canada's 150th Birthday today and this is a Blog dedicated to Entertainment, I thought I would dedicate a post to The National Film Board of Canada.

The NFB has been funding short filmmaking and creative endeavors that encourage Canadian culture so long and so well that the Academy Awards gave them a special Oscar.
Short film makers funded by the NFB have won more Academy Awards than from any other country.

So, to our friends next "door" to us (aka. America))
"Yes. Canada does have a culture uniquely her own and we thank you for noticing."
And BTW, you have a Happy Birthday too.

Below you will find several Links to the NFB and some of my personal favorite short films.

Then head over to YouTube for one of the best films about Canada's history you will ever see (even though it was made by English people).
I've recommended and reviewed it on this blog before.

Sincerely, Laura-Lee

NOTE: The other Links to the Trap have been deleted by YouTube, but I discovered the 2020  one. It's allowed because it's in a foreign language. HOWEVER,they have left the ENGLISH on at a good volume in the background, so you can still hear it. PLUS, a large amount of this movie is just visual because Rita Tushingham's character is mute. So go now. I hope it's still available when you've stopped by. LLR

"Left Behind" Film Review: For the SAVED or UnSAVED?

UPDATE:  (July 2017) This was originally part of my  "Wholesome Weekend Date Movie" Feature (January 2017),  but after viewing this version of the film "Left Behind" with Nic Cage again, I wanted to take some time to visit the issue of WHO is responsible for this film being remade and the message(s) it gives. You may be surprised at the answer this 40 year follower of Jesus gives.  (This UPDATE continues. Immediately below is the orginal "Wholesome Weekend Date Movie" post)

By now you have probably figured out that I think Nicolas Cage is not just a massively talented actor but also quite scrumptious. So when I discovered he was in a 2014 version of the film "Left Behind" I scooted around to find a good quality upload of it.

Nicolas plays the Captain of a plane who discovers that several of his passengers and flight crew have suddenly vanished into thin air during a flight to London.

Nicolas Cage
Being Intense & Sensitive

Based on the [very] Best-selling series of books (of the same title) which are a fictionalized account of what Bible Prophecy predicts will happen in the near future, when the earth enters it's darkest period of time, the anti-Christ (AKA. Satan) takes over and World War III looms big on the horizon.

Nicolas Cage
[STILL] Being Intense & Sensitive

I"m not going to say anything more about this movie because I'm going to write a full review of it and I want you to see it first without any bias from me.
Let me just say, I may be making the ultimate Christian 'faux pas' (AKA. Big Boo Boo) by liking this NON-Christian version of  "Left Behind" more than the Christian version that was made several years ago.

At any rate, whatever your Christian views may be, this film is a good action movie, it meets "Laura-Lee's Requirements" and (did I mention) it has NICOLAS CAGE in it?!

I hope this is "the start of a beautiful friendship" for you and, of course, a wonderful weekend too.

Sincerely, Laura-Lee

UPDATE continued: (July 2017)

Above  is how this film was originally published when it was part of my "Wholesome Weekend Date Movie" feature, but I just went to YouTube to view this film again and found that several more Christians had uploaded it but were referring to it as the "UnSaved version of  Left Behind".

So I wish to aim this review of the film primarily at Christians and let you in on two very important facts about this "UnSaved" version of Left Behind that helped me open my mind a crack before viewing it myself.

1) There is no way this film could have been made unless the authors of the Left Behind series of books, Jerry Jenkins and Tim La Haye "signed off" on it. Which basically means there was a bunch of contract negotiations going on and they had to agree to it.

2) This script was enhanced or had some rewriting done by someone named Paul Lalonde. When I saw that name in the opening credits for the movie, my mind suddenly popped open a crack and I entertained the possibility that I might actually enjoy this film more than I expected.

You see, Peter and Paul Lalonde are no strangers to Canadian Christians. They have been at the forefront of their own Bible Prophecy Ministry even before Jerry & Tim got together to write their first book in their very popular "Left Behind" series of books. The Lalonde brothers produced some of the first films to deal with the topic of  what is commonly now known as the "Rapture".  And even though they had a shoe string budget and the Lalondes' films were primarily shown in Churches, they were some of the best Biblical movies I had ever seen.

Now let me give you a short review of this particular version of the movie, "Left Behind".

Christians who believe the Bible isn't just "some book written by old men" but actually tells the truth, mostly hold the belief that Jesus will physically and literally return to earth IN THE FUTURE to set up His Kingdom here. These future events are described in detail in the Bible. Primarily in the book of "Daniel", (a prophet who lived a long time before Jesus,) "Revelation" (the last portion of the Bible), and from Jesus himself  (mostly recorded in the gospel of Matthew. Chapter 24).

Though all these parts of the Bible were written hundreds of years apart they completely agree with each other and describe an event known as the "Rapture". This word is not actually found IN the Bible but it basically means "to be caught up or snatched away". (Check your local dictionary).

It is the belief of every Christian who believes the Bible tells the truth from cover to cover that Jesus will snatch away all people who have an honest and sincere faith in Jesus and will take them with him to Heaven, without us dying first.
This is to be a Global event and will happen in "the twinkling of an eye." We will all be just going about our usual business and then millions of people will just suddenly be gone. This is such a thrilling, unique and fascinating concept that it is no surprise that it has captured the imagination of Christians and non-Christians alike. Christians because it is our "hope" and non-Christians because, hey, who isn't interested in knowing the future BEFORE it actually happens.

I personally started watching and hoping for this event to literally occur back in 1980 while heading for an appointment to my dentist. In spite of making me feel rather old, that is before many of you were even born. This film version of "Left Behind" focuses on that event and it's immediate aftermath.

We are in the air with commercial pilot Ray Steele, with the Oscar winning and scrumptious Nicolas Cage in that role, as the Rapture happens and several of his passengers and crew suddenly disappear MIDFLIGHT over the Atlantic ocean while on their way to London.
It's up to the wonderful Captain Steele to keep order, try and find a way to get his plane back on the ground amidst the chaos and try to figure out what happened to the missing people.
In my opinion, what makes this film so good and sometimes even better than the book is the added dialogue and actions among the handful of first class passengers who are also "Left Behind". As they talk amongst themselves and discuss their various theories of  what happened to the people who disappeared right in front of them, it runs the gamate of sounding ridiculous, being humorous and sometimes causes them to take desperate and dangerous measures.
During this the supporting cast gets to demonstrate their acting talents, make us care about each of their characters and contemplate the possibles of what their future holds. It's at that time one can't help but imagine what we would do when faced with the same scenario. From sublime and funny to desperate and fearful I believe this movie to be superior (Yes. I said "SUPERIOR") to the first version of this film made by "Saved" people and this cinematic plane ride worth the trip. Whether you're a Christian or non Christian, "saved' or "not saved" I would encourage you to watch or rewatch this movie.

As a side note, let me say that since I first started looking into what the Bible had to say about future events back in the "olden days" of the 1980's (Yes. I'm having one of my common 1980's flashbacks), the quality and quantity of films made about the Rapture and Bible Prophecy has dramatically and exponentially increased.
Jesus has made sure to leave a record of these future events to prepare us for them. After all, the words "Revelation" and "apocalypse" literally mean to "reveal" something. (Check your local dictionary).

Or better still check any Bible you can get a hold of because the Rapture is just one of many things about the future that Bible Prophecy reveals. And whether you are reading my words before or after the Rapture has occured, you have nothing to fear if you have given your life to Jesus.
In keeping with the "airplane theme" let me use the example that faith in Jesus is like a parachute. It does you no good to simply know such a thing exists. In order for it to actually "save" you, you need to get it and put it on. Then you can wear it with the confidence that whatever happens, you  will  be  saved.

"But put on the Lord Jesus Christ ..." Romans 13:14

"Put on the whole armour of God ..."  Ephesians 6

"Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ ... Romans 13

Love Laura-Lee

This film has some adult themes (like cheating on your wife) and some violent scenes, so it holds a PG rating. But otherwise, it is alright for family viewing. I'm giving it an official "The Bible and the Biz" rating of  8 out of 10 little, golden, Christian fishies:

Will Nicolas Cage figure out why some people vanished into thin air and some were "Left Behind"?
OR

Will Nicolas Cage simply go insane trying to answer that question?

OR
Will Nicolas Cage start a "Latter Days" Cult?

OR

Will Nicolas Cage shave off ALL his hair?
OR

Will Nicolas Cage ..., uh, will he, ...
 ?????????

Thank you for visiting my blog. You are always welcome here.
