I Remember Carman

Christian contemporary music legend and pioneer died on February 17. I felt my main post was too personal to put here so I talked about him at my personal blog,  Laura-Lee Was Here.

However, I've been spending my evening watching his videos and want to add some extra things here.

"When people stop using the Word of God as a standard than 'good becomes evil and evil good.'" Seem familiar?

One of Carman's firm beliefs was that one of America's greatest mistakes was when they took the Lord's Prayer out of schools. He felt that when a nation's children are denied the right and privilege of praying that the country would slide into destruction under God's judgment. You called it Carman.

I grew up as a Catholic and used to find saying my rosary so boring as I droned on the same words countless times. It felt like I was in a room without oxygen. I was often forced to do it early in the morning and could say the Lord's Prayer half asleep and without any feeling whatsoever. But watching all these people singing and dancing to those same words took the dust off it for me and now I say it with the deep sincerity Jesus wants me to use. And the same JOY too.

What Carman excels at. Short, silly songs with a point.

I'm dedicating this one to my American friends.

Carman wrote it right after Trump became President. It is a good way to remember Carman, honor all that Trump did in office and have a laugh, because there is very little satan hates more than for us to laugh (and laugh at him). Especially when he wants us freaked out and in despair.

One thing I always could relate to Carman about. We were both single until late in life and our Moms were our best friends and sisters in Christ as well as our mothers. He has been reunited with his beloved mother, Nancy, who spent most of her life as the head of his fan club. I still have a wonderful letter I received from her. I keep thinking that right now they are reunited.

As my mom's birthday approaches in the next couple of days I look forward to the day I will be reunited with her too.

Thank you, Jesus! Paul was so right! We really don't grieve like those who have no hope.

Love always, Laura-Lee

"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.  For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.  According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.  For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words."

FREE Wholesome Weekend Date Movie - February 21, 2021

Germans Give Olivier and Richardson a Hard Time in World War 2 ...

and make tasty cookies too!

ẞ

I'll make this short and sweet because I'm supposed to be partaking in my Sabbath Technology Fast but snuck back online to tell you about this movie I just saw.

It's called "Q-Planes" (or "Clouds Over Europe" for its American release) and is a British film from 1939 made right at the beginning of World War 2 starring Laurence Olivier and Ralph Richardson (long before either of them were "Sirs"). It's suppose to be a spy thriller/romantic comedy which is an accurate description. For me it was pure, clean fun from beginning to the very last second.

It was designed as a vehicle for Olivier to strut his stuff but it's Richardson who unapologetically steals every scene he is in. With Valerie Hobson holding her own even next to these acting giants, it's great fun to see everyone at the start of their careers and basically just great fun all around.

It meets all of Laura-Lee's Requirements (and then some) and if I still had the images I created and then lost when the Operating System from my previous computer crashed, you would be looking next at my image of 9 out of 10 little, golden Christian fishies. But you'll just have to take my word for it that this film is a bona fide HOOT!

Directed by Tim Whelan and Arthur B. Woods, produced by Alexander Korda and Irving Asher, written by Brock Williams, Ian Dalrymple and Jack Whittingham and enjoyed best with a Vanillekipferl (melt in your mouth German Vanilla Crescent Cookies), you have all the information you need to enjoy this film.

I'd also like to mention that everyone talks excessively fast and since it's a rather poor quality upload because it's an older film, I had to replay a few scenes to catch what was said. I'd like to emphasize that this film will be equally enjoyed by both men and women and no tissues will be needed just a good sense of humour.

This channel has very few advertisements, so you might want to sit through them and hit the Like button as a Thank you to the channel for uploading it. Otherwise, temporarily "pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and smile, smile, smile", which is something we could use a lot more of these days. Smiles.

Enjoy the movie, being with your sweetheart and the remainder of your weekend. I recommend it with those things in mind. Take a look at the other things you can expect to see in this film in the list below, then off you go to see them. Make sure to check back again because I already have a gem in mind for you next time.
